On September 17, Haikui No. 1, the first cylindrical FPSO in Asia, and Haiji No. 2, the first deepwater jacket platform in Asia, independently designed, constructed and installed by COOEC, passed the mechanical completion acceptance, which signifies the completion of secondary development project for China's first deepwater oilfield and a substantial breakthrough in China's competitive strength to accomplish the independent construction for all types of deepwater oil and gas equipment.
Liuhua Oilfield is reputed as the first deepwater oilfield in China, with an operating depth of 324 meters and a proven geological reserve of over 100 million tons. It is the first time in China that the secondary development of the Oilfield is carried out in the mode of Deepwater Jacket Platform + Cylindrical FPSO. The deepwater jacket drilling and production platform is erected for crude oil extraction. Crude oil is pretreated and then transported to the cylindrical FPSO, where it is processed into acceptable crude oil for storage and export.
The innovative structural design of Haiji No.2 and Haikui No.1 has resulted in a number of pioneering technologies and new design standards in China, including the welding process of S420 ultra-high strength steel, the design of cylindrical FPSO hull, and the digital twin health management system for large offshore jackets, which has motivated China to achieve breakthroughs from 0 to 1 in multiple design technologies.
Haikui No.1 has a total weight of 37,000 tons, a height of nearly 30-storey building, and a maximum oil storage capacity of 60,000 tons. The platform can provide continuous marine operation for 15 years without returning to the dock. With a total height of 428 meters and a weight of more than 50,000 tons, Haiji No.2 is honored as the first deepwater jacket platform in Asia.
The project team has overcome 25 key technical challenges, including the design, construction, installation, and commissioning of deepwater ultra-large jacket platforms and cylindrical floating production storage and offloading (FPSO), and comprehensively mastered the complete set of technology for the integration of oil and gas engineering in the deep sea of more than 300 meters, so that China demonstrates a competitive power to independently design and manufacture the appropriate type of deepwater oil and gas equipment for the different oil fields and sea areas.
