Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (COOEC) has completed its 13 topside modules for Petrobras’ 400,000 DWT P79 FPSO Project and delivered them in Qingdao International High-end Equipment Manufacturing Base on January 12. This delivery marks a significant milestone for China as it seeks to manufacture high-end offshore energy equipment.
P79 FPSO has a total hull length of 345.3 meters, a molded breadth of 60 meters, and a maximum displacement of 400,000 tons. P79 FPSO is one of the world’s largest FPSO units. Upon completion, it will service in Buzios Oilfield in Santos Basin, Brazil at an operating depth over 2000 meters. COOEC undertook the design, procurement, construction and installation-to-vessel of 13 core compressor modules. These modules, weighing nearly 30,000 tons and consisting of more than 320,000 structural members, will involve the installation of 153 sets of heavy-duty equipment and consume cable length of 300,000 meters.
A “process module + pipe gallery module” integrated construction was introduced to the project. COOEC has applied its proprietary PCMS (Project Construction Management System) in multiple new scenarios and put more than 10 technological innovations into practice, such as lifting and assembly of SPMT (Self-propelled Modular Transport), side mounting of large structures, and double-precision dimension control. As expected, all quality conformance rates are superior to the specifications, the positioning accuracies of static equipment are controlled within 1 mm, and the soft foot testing accuracies of rotating equipment are controlled within 0.02 mm, which is at the world advanced level.
Petrobras P79 FPSO is a follow-up large-scale deepwater FPSO project undertook by COOEC in Brazil, South America after the delivery of two 350,000 DWT FPSOs P67/P70. In recent years, COOEC has delivered several sets of world-renowned high-end offshore energy equipment, such as Penguin FPSO, Canadia LNG and Saudi Marjan. COOEC seeks cooperative relations with dozens of international energy and engineering companies, exemplified by its EFA (Long-term Cooperation) agreements with large energy companies (e.g. Saudi Aramco and Shell) and its status as China’s first enterprise with Shell’s HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) green certification. COOEC is committed to continuously building competitive international brands and vigorously promoting higher levels of international energy cooperation.
